Learning Disabilities and SEN

“Where words fail, music speaks” - Hans Christian Andersen

Since 2013 I have been devising music workshops for people with Learning Disabilities and Dementia with opera companies, orchestras and partner charities. I am passionate about inclusive music making, and love creating workshops for people of all abilities. Seeing people participate, shine and express themselves is at the forefront of everything I do.

Music has the power to bond people together, and if you are a carer, then workshops and music making sessions are for you too. You may discover a new skill, a new hobby or a desire to try more new things.

I am also a Soundabout and Amber Trust Practitioner, and you can find my profile page here.

SOUNDABOUT

Soundabout offers musical and sound adventures to young people with PMLD and Learning difficulties. They run various projects for young people, aged 0-5 and 16-24. They also run choirs and can work directly with schools and day-centres. If you’d like to know more about what we do, you can visit their website.

AMBER TRUST

Tuning In sessions are for young people with visual impairment, profound and multiple learning difficulties, or PMLD, and their carers. It’s an opportunity to explore voice, language, music making and self expression. You can find out more about the Amber Trust Scheme here.

HOW I SING

These are special singing lessons for people with learning disabilities and PMLD. Singing isn’t just about hitting the notes, it’s about expression and joy. These bespoke sessions empower you to find what makes you sing, and how. We can use movement, laughter, musical instruments, word games, and sensory themes, to help you find your voice, the essence of you.

FUNDING

I work on a sliding scale - in order to be accessible, it’s important to talk about costs. You may find you are eligible for funding. Every person will be treated individually and all options will be considered.

If your organisation would like any of the above, I would be more than happy to work on a funding application with you.
